The timing-chain job alone totaled $1,160.40, including $850.20 in labor and $310.20 in parts.

That's meaningful work on a 1.8T Volkswagen and money the next owner doesn't have to immediately spend.

FULL SYNTHETIC EUROPEAN OIL SERVICE + BG ENGINE SERVICE

We didn't simply change the timing chain and send it out the door.

The engine received 5.8 quarts of 5W-40 full-synthetic European oil, a NAPA Gold filter, BG EPR and BG MOA.

BG EPR is used as part of our engine-service process to help clean deposits and restore oil flow, while MOA is added to the fresh oil.

It's an extra step that costs us more than a basic oil change, but it's part of how we prepare the vehicles we intend to retail.

WHY THE JETTA SEL?

The Jetta has always been one of our favorite alternatives to the typical compact sedan.

It gives you a more substantial European driving feel while still being practical and economical enough to use every day.

And the SEL is the version we'd rather have.

You're getting the stronger 1.8T turbo engine rather than buying the car strictly because it's inexpensive transportation.

With 170 horsepower, the 1.8T has plenty of power for highway merging and Colorado driving without giving up the practicality that makes a Jetta such a good commuter.

22 DOCUMENTED SERVICE RECORDS

This Jetta has a substantial documented maintenance history.

CARFAX shows 22 service-history records and four previous owners, with the vehicle most recently owned in Colorado.

The history includes documented:

Before offering the Jetta for sale, our shop went through a comprehensive inspection that included:
