This 2011 Subaru Forester 2.5X AWD has just gone through an unusually extensive mechanical reconditioning process at Ridgeline Automotive.

We invested $5,505.66 into this Forester before offering it for sale, including a replacement engine, our complete Ridgeline Subaru engine reseal, new clutch, cooling-system work, front and rear brakes and much more.

COMPLETE RIDGELINE ENGINE RESEAL

This is one of the most important things we've done to this Forester.

When we install an FB25 engine, we don't simply drop a used engine in and hope for the best.

We perform our complete Ridgeline engine reseal while the engine is out of the vehicle.

That includes addressing the upper oil pan O-rings, which are buried deep enough in the engine that they are extremely labor-intensive to reach once everything is back in the vehicle.

Those O-rings are an important sealing point on these engines. If they deteriorate, they can contribute to oil and coolant leakage and contamination.

So while the engine was out, we addressed that failure point proactively.

The current repair order specifically documents replacement of three Subaru upper oil pan O-rings, along with additional Subaru O-rings and seals.

We also replaced:

• Valve-cover gasket set
• Oil-pan gasket set
• Intake-manifold gaskets
• Coolant-outlet gaskets
• Water-pump seals
• Additional Subaru engine O-rings
• Engine oil seal
• Four NGK spark plugs
• Four spark-plug boots

This is far more than simply installing a used engine.

The idea is to address the difficult-to-access seals while everything is apart, rather than wait for one of them to start leaking after the engine is installed.

REPLACEMENT ENGINE – 1-YEAR PARTS & LABOR WARRANTY

The Forester received a replacement engine assembly with approximately 114,000 miles.

The replacement engine comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty.

And again, before installation, we went through it with our complete resealing process rather than installing it exactly as it arrived.

The engine portion of this job also included a new AISIN water pump, new thermostat, new radiator hoses, fresh full-synthetic oil and filter and new spark plugs.

NEW CLUTCH

Since this Forester is equipped with a clutch, we took advantage of the engine being out and installed a new Power Torque clutch kit.

We also found the clutch hydraulic hose was beginning to get moist, so rather than leave an aging hydraulic hose in place, we replaced it and bled the clutch hydraulic system.

That's another significant wear item the next owner doesn't have to immediately worry about.

NEW RADIATOR + COOLING SYSTEM WORK

Cooling-system reliability matters on any Subaru, especially after major engine work.

We installed:

New radiator New radiator cap New AISIN water pump New thermostat New upper and lower radiator hoses Fresh coolant

The radiator and cap replacement are documented separately in the repair order.

CARFAX also documents the September 2026 cooling-system service, including coolant service, radiator replacement, radiator cap, thermostat and water pump replacement.

BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES ARE NEW

We also addressed the braking system before sale.

This Forester received:
