If you're looking for an incredible amount of luxury and performance for the money, this 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8 deserves some attention.
This is not the more common V6 Genesis. It's the 4.6-liter V8 producing 378 horsepower, driving the rear wheels and offering the kind of smooth, effortless power you'd normally associate with much more expensive European and Japanese luxury sedans.
And this one has only 89,649 miles.
But the biggest reason we're excited about this Genesis is what we've already done to it.
We purchased this Genesis knowing it needed substantial mechanical work.
Instead of wholesaling it or doing the bare minimum to get it running, Ridgeline Automotive invested $5,834.17 into the vehicle, including installation of a replacement Hyundai long block.
That's a significant investment on a used vehicle in this price category, but it's exactly the kind of reconditioning that allows us to offer an older performance sedan with considerably more confidence.
Our work included:
The replacement-engine job alone involved $2,180 in labor and more than $3,600 in parts, with the complete Ridgeline repair order totaling $5,834.17.
And this isn't just our claim about what was done. The engine and long-block replacement are now documented directly on CARFAX, along with the control arm, cooling-system hoses, serpentine belt, spark plugs, thermostat, valve-cover gaskets and oil service.
CARFAX even notes:
“Looks like this dealer serviced the car in order to prepare it for sale. That's a good thing!”
We'd rather be upfront about this than simply advertise "new engine."
The vehicle came to us needing an engine. We made the decision to properly repair it with a replacement Hyundai long block rather than move the car along with an unresolved mechanical problem.
While we had everything apart, we addressed a number of related maintenance items at the same time.
That means the next owner benefits from thousands of dollars of work that we've already paid for.
For an older V8 luxury sedan, that's a major part of this car's story.
The mileage is another reason we decided this Genesis was worth repairing.
CARFAX currently shows 89,692 miles and no indication of an odometer rollback.
CARFAX shows three owners, and every one drove considerably less than the traditional 15,000-mile-per-year average.
The second owner is particularly notable: they owned the Genesis for approximately 9 years and 2 months while averaging only 3,790 miles per year.
That kind of long-term ownership is something we like seeing on an older luxury vehicle.
This is what makes this generation Genesis such an interesting used-car value.
Under the hood is Hyundai's 4.6-liter DOHC V8 producing 378 horsepower.
Power goes to the rear wheels, giving the Genesis the traditional luxury-sedan layout.
This was Hyundai's attempt to compete with significantly more expensive luxury sedans, and the original MSRP reflects that. CARFAX shows this Genesis had an original sticker price of $43,985 when it was new.
Today, it represents a lot of car for the money:
If you've been looking at older Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Cadillac or German luxury sedans, don't overlook the V8 Genesis.
This is also a great color combination.
CARFAX confirms it was originally manufactured in Cabernet Red Pearl with a Cashmere interior.
It gives the car a much richer appearance than the endless silver, gray and black luxury sedans from this era.
CARFAX shows 21 service-history records on this Genesis.
Some of the documented history includes:
In January 2024, the cooling system was serviced and the antifreeze/coolant was flushed and replaced along with an oil change.
Then in January 2026, shortly before we acquired the vehicle, Planet Hyundai performed a maintenance inspection and valve-cover work.
After that came our $5,834 mechanical reconditioning.
Following the engine replacement and reconditioning, this Genesis passed Colorado emissions on July 1, 2026 at 89,692 miles.
That's another item already handled for the next Colorado owner.
We believe in being upfront about vehicle history.
CARFAX reports two minor damage events.
The first occurred in October 2023 and involved minor damage to the left front. CARFAX explains that minor damage is generally cosmetic, such as dents or scratches.
A second minor damage event was reported in September 2025.
Importantly, CARFAX reports:
We're happy to show you the complete CARFAX and our repair documentation when you come see the vehicle.
This Genesis is a perfect example of why our process matters.
Anyone can buy an older luxury sedan at auction, clean it up, take some nice pictures and put it online.
We operate differently.
Ridgeline Auto Brokers operates alongside Ridgeline Automotive, our full-service automotive repair facility and NAPA Auto Care Center.
When this Genesis needed an engine, we didn't hide the problem or send it down the road.
We fixed it.
And we didn't stop at the long block. We installed new spark plugs, valve-cover gaskets, thermostat, coolant hoses, serpentine belt, battery and additional components while performing the job.
That's what we mean when we say Ridgeline Reconditioned.
